Father’s Day in Linda Vista de San Vito was celebrated yesterday and today with fiestas, rodeos, horseback riding, music, pony rides for the children, typical Tico food, soft drinks and beer, an evening dance (which I did not attend), and a great deal of socializing. Fathers proudly showed off their children and vice versa. Even the horses seemed to enjoy the festivities. People came from Los Angeles de Sabalito, Sabalito itself, San Vito, Corredores, and other points. Many of my neighbors and friends showed up. Across the road neighbor, Carlos, and his little boy; John and Gerry Whittle and the two brothers, Jason and Eddy, who share the job of peón for them; Nogui, my peón, and his wife Johanna and their baby, Hellen; my former student, Luís Picado; and many others. Eddy is now a student, by the way. Everyone wants to learn English (except the Gringos who all want to learn Spanish). Here are some photos from the fiesta.
