Welcome

Welcome to The Real Costa Rica. This is the photoblog for the Weird and Wonderful World of Chi.
Here you will find photos of things Costa Rican (Tico) - events, people, animals, plants, scenery, and every day life. Enjoy! You are more than welcome to post comments and questions about these photos. I will be trying to respond at least weekly and probably more often.

My husband is moving our family (me, our 7 year old daughter and 1 year old son) to Sabalito within the year, and we are all thrilled! Sounds similar in size and nature to our current rural Montana community, population @ 100, foothills of the Rockies, 'one room' escuela with 12 kids enrolled, cattle, horse and cowboy country for sure (though we're not ranchers, nor do we own horses, much to my daughter's dismay!) I happen to be an experienced ESL/EFL/Spanish/Bilingual educator (B.A. in Linguistics and M.Ed, Language) and desire VERY much to volunteer in the community and local escuela in any way I can. Any way to put me in touch with the teacher or other administrative official of the school? Our house is next door to (the/a) Catholic Church, which we've been told is next door to the school. We'll be visiting in November for...however long a stay as we need and can manage. Hope to meet you, Mary, then. Your photos were wonderful...and your bio (though not your picture or age) reminds me of my mother...tireless volunteer, excellent photographer, student of life, philanthropist, gardener, sociologist and archaeologist. I am the youngest of her 11 children. She is 75 years young and I expect she and Dad will prefer visiting me in Costa Rica (near the Wilson Botanical Gardens) to Montana! Much more I'd love to know. I'm 'already there' in spirit.
Mil gracias por las fotos.
