Some birds of Costa Rica

Right and below: Blue crowned Motmot

This Motmot is a fairly large bird with vivid irridescent coloring and a showy tail. It loves fresh fruits.

Two silver throated tanagers on the left, a blue and grey tanager with back to camera and a male scarlet rumped tanager. Tanagers are fruit eaters, so a dish of fruits such as bananas, watermelon, and papaya draws many to be photographed. This was especially true this last winter after the unusually heavy rains of October and November, 2007, which destroyed many fruits and berries before they ripened.

Two pairs of scarlet rumped tanagers and one greedy green honey creeper.
