Spiny Caterpillar Macros


Macro of Costa Rican caterpillar. ID needed.

Whatever it is, it's really protected!:

Need some help identifying this very spiny caterpillar. The branching spines are an almost classic Mandelbrot set design.

Hi Mary. I left a comment about the caterpillar on Flickr. Pretty sure it's Automeris portalbida belonging to the silkworm moths family. Check the comments as I left links there too.
