Winter Vista

In Costa Rica the rainy season is called winter even though it starts in April or May and lasts until mid-December or January. The dry season, of course, is called summer. This photograph taken from a greater height then the mountains shown below struck me because a ray of sunshine had pierced the cloud cover to single out a lone leafless tree. Different tree species lose their leaves at different times during the year so that there are always green leaves mixed with a dormant tree ready to bud at a different time.
